After taking some time off from the retail business, Tim & Wendy Huppe and Jake & Alyson Bronnenberg (previous owners of BerryBrook Ox Supply and New England Ox Supply, respectively), have decided to team up and again serve the ox community that is so close to their hearts.
1964 - Tim's dad, Maurice, with a pair of Milking Shorthorn calves hauling Tim and his siblings on the sled with faithful farm dog 'King'.
Oxen have long been an important part of our family and we enjoy being a part of this industry. After growing up on farms and showing and pulling cattle at the fairs, Tim and Wendy decided to raise their daughters in the same tradition. Tim is not only an accomplished ox teamster and instructor to many learning to drive oxen, but he has also built hundreds of yokes and related equipment for steers and oxen all over the world. Wendy assists with the business and puts the finishing touches on the yokes. All of Tim & Wendy's four daughters are a part of the business in some way; Katy helping with the graphic design and artwork, Danielle with the advertising, and Marissa helping to make connections throughout the other New England states. Tim and Wendy still live on the home property/family farm where they raised their four daughters. Jake, a logger and forester, and Alyson (the eldest of the Huppe daughters) are now raising their four children in Loudon, NH, with their oldest son being the first of the fourth generation ox teamsters in the family. Jake and Alyson are leaders of the local 4-H club and enjoy helping to pass this tradition on. Jake provides much of the wood for the yokes and other equipment that Tim builds.
One of the biggest challenges of raising and training oxen are finding the supplies and equipment needed. For the equipment that is not made by Tim, we have the connections that allow us to provide an extensive inventory of bows, hardware, goad sticks, horn knobs, etc. made by hand by talented craftsman.
