Meet the Manufacturer: Sam Rossier
Sam Rossier grew up at the end of a dirt road in Vershire, Vermont. From a young age, he was fascinated by equipment and farm animals. In fact, his first word was “tractor”. Starting with a flock of chickens, Sam was soon ready to raise larger animals. At the age of 9, he got his first pair of bull calves, Gus and Piet. By the sixth grade, Sam began taking welding lessons from a family friend. His first project was a logging fore-cart for his working steers.
In high school, Sam started a landscaping business with his brother, Liam. Welding continued to be a crucial skill for Sam, maintaining and improving all his mowing, farming, and ski trail grooming equipment. Seeking a broader education and deeper understanding of mechanical design, Sam went to the University of Wisconsin – Madison. There, he earned a Mechanical Engineering degree specializing in biological systems and farm equipment design.
Upon graduation, Sam moved back to Vermont, got married, and started a small farm. He now lives with his wife, Kylie, in North Danville on their diversified raw milk micro dairy: Sunday Bell Farm. Together, Kylie and Sam raise dairy cattle, beef cattle, veal, pigs and chickens, and working steers. Sam also works full time as a Product Design Engineer for Concept2 in Morrisville, Vermont. Between farming and engineering is his true passion: Sustainable Agriculture Machinery design and fabrication. S.A.M. Co. now offers a full line of fully customizable high quality draft power fore-carts.
